Similar to its cousin love, I found that I was using hate too often and inaccurately. I don’t hate mushrooms, I just don’t eat them. I further found that using hate too often, made me feel negative. To instantly use it as my go-to reaction was too easy and just made things more unpleasant than they needed to be.

So for two years, I have lived hate free.

After long and careful consideration, I have decided to take the word hate out of retirement to say this:

I Hate Donald Trump.

And you do too.

Even if you are voting for him, you hate him. Just think about it.

When was the last time you had to deal with someone who never ever admitted they were wrong? How did you react when your colleague was totally in the wrong, acted foolishly, and refused to take responsibility for his actions, apologize, or simply recognize that he had made a mistake?

Did you like that person?

No.

You shouldn’t have, anyway. People who don’t take responsibility for their actions have no integrity, people who don’t recognize their mistakes don’t grow. Is that what you want in the person running your department or the company where you work? Of course not. Everyone makes mistakes, admitting them and taking responsibility for them takes guts.

When you were a kid if you weren’t a bully, you had a bully. We all did. Like all bullies, ours was a thin-skinned baby. Whenever the tables were turned on him, he literally ran home and got his mommy.

This is Trump. He bullies like a mean-spirited bag of wind, spouting lies against all against him, and when someone snaps back, he yells that they are mean to him or that they attacked him. You can almost picture him running to tell his mommy.

Did you like your bully?

I didn’t.

Trump’s a bully and if you had to deal with him personally, you would hate him.

I grew up with a kid who was a terrible sport. When he was winning one of our street games (hockey, baseball, football) he mocked others, rubbed it in, ran up the score. But the very second he was on the losing side, he complained, accused, pointed fingers, and blamed others. He became a grumpy and bitter sore loser, crossing his arms over his chest, pouting, and then storming away shouting an inevitable, “I quit!”

Every time Trump gets outgunned in a debate or in any way, he points fingers and makes excuses. Nothing is ever his fault. It was that guy’s fault or this lady’s fault. He would throw his mother under a bus to save his own ass or to pathetically and desperately attempt to make himself look better. He has done exactly this to his own running mate, people outside of the political game, and several people in his own party.

Do you like the back stabbers, sore losers, and bad sports in your life? I sure as hell don’t.

If Donald Trump was a person in your life, you would hate him. Because most people don’t like a self-serving blowhard bully who pathologically lies, blames his mistakes on others, and never admits his missteps.

I wouldn’t want to spend five minutes in a room with him, so I will say it once more and then I will put the word hate back into retirement. This time, I hope, permanently.

I Hate Donald Trump. And so do you.

About two years ago, I gave up the word hate.
